Trip to Austria- A moment of Delight and Pride

On 15th June 2014, a team of 25 students accompanied by Principal, Mr. Jorawar Singh took off for a trip to Austria to participate in the United World Games-2014 organized by UNESCO. Around 6,000 participants from 40 countries travelled to Austria to be a part of the games. The boys and girls of school’s Basketball teams under the leadership of Mr.Smit Pandita- the Basket Ball coach exhibited an exuberant performance in the games.

The magnificent opening ceremony marked the beginning of the games where students from our school presented Bhangra and mesmerized the audience. All other nations also presented their anthems. Under 14 and under 16 group, the school basket ball team defeated Austrian, Netherlands, USA and the Finland team which was a big achievement for the school.

The schools boys team was ranked 8th and the girls team was ranked 4th in the games. The students who participated in these games were:

Vivek,Sanjit, Rahul,Jashandeep, Ajay Sohal, Nitisha Dhir, Monisha, Mansumit, Simranjit , Inderpreet, Fateh Singh, Varundeep, Jagdeep, Urvarshi, Harnoor, Ankit, Nandini, Hardeep and Gagandeep.

Apart from this the students also visited world heritage cities Salzburg and Innsbruck in Austria. They also got an opportunity to visit Venice in Italy.

The ten days spent at Austria were undoubtedly fun-filled and mesmerizing. The students got exposed to healthy competition, cultural exchange and international exposure as well.
